No Country for Free Speech - Speakers
Shay Woulahan
Shay Woulahan is an Irish writer, feminist activist, and social media content creator known for her outspoken advocacy on lesbian rights and gender-critical feminism. She has contributed to platforms such as Reduxx and On The Woman Question, where her work often critiques gender ideology, the commodification of women’s bodies through surrogacy, and violence against women and girls. On a personal note, Shay resides in Belfast with her wife and their pets. She maintains an active presence on social media platforms, where she shares her perspectives on feminist issues and engages with a broader audience.
She’ll be joining the panel “No Country for Free Speech”—a powerful conversation exploring how freedom of expression is increasingly threatened in Ireland and beyond. From cancel culture to censorship, and the growing cost of simply stating biological facts, this discussion will spotlight how young people—LGB and allied—are pushing back against enforced silence.
Connie Shaw
Connie Shaw is a philosophy student at the University of Leeds. She is a women's rights and free speech commentator, having gained attention following her suspension from Leeds Student Radio.
As a young woman navigating university life under the weight of ideological conformity, Connie brings a fresh, clear voice to the conversation. She knows firsthand how dangerous it has become to question dogma, and how urgent it is to protect the right to dissent.
At LGB Interrupted, Connie joins a powerful panel of LGB voices and allies to confront the silencing, censorship, and social pressure that so many now face—and to ask: how do we speak the truth when the cost is so high?
